
Harry Potter fans have been incredibly supportive of the new golden trio cast, and want to ensure they’re kept safe from online hate.
Nowadays, it feels like you can’t go anywhere on the internet without seeing negativity, and while everyone is entitled to their own opinions, things quickly get heated and horrible things are said.
With the golden trio of Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger now cast for the HBO reboot series, you might have suspected a wave of hate being sent their way but the fanbase has gone a different direction instead.

Whether they agree with the castings or not, the majority of fans have said that the new kids must be protected; after all, they’re only children at the end of the day and this is a huge moment for them.
“No matter your thoughts on this show. Let’s all agree to protect these kids and let them be their own versions of these characters,” read a tweet responding to the casting.
Another read, “I'm not interested in this reboot, but I pray for the safety and protection of these kids. their lives are about to become very messy very fast, and I wish them the best of luck in the face of discrimination, adversity, and parasocial fanaticism from Harry Potter adults.”
Even the various Harry Potter Reddit threads have all rallied together in support of the casting, saying they don’t want any hate comments being sent their way.

Some threads have even turned off their comments in order to keep nasty discussions out of the picture.
It’s very heartwarming to see, especially as there’s already been backlash to the series for casting Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape.
There are still a few characters left to cast for the Harry Potter HBO reboot, but chances are actors have already been found and we’re now just waiting for further announcements.
