God Of War fans losing it over new teaser

Let them cook

The God of War franchise is experiencing somewhat of a drought period.

Let’s face it, even if nothing has been announced, a new game entry feels like a matter of ‘when’ and not ‘if’.

In fact, multiple God of War games could be in development.

It’s expected that Kratos will eventually return in a new mainline entry, facing off against a new mythology, while God of War Ragnarök teased an Atreus spin-off.

And it’s hard to forget those whispers that suggested that both a remaster of the original trilogy and a new metroidvania spin-off are in the works too.

Of course, such rumours do have to be taken with a pinch of salt, but I suspect the future is bountiful for God of War fans.

That future will most definitely include Prime Video’s upcoming God of War TV adaptation, new details of which have been dropped by IGN and by Collider, courtesy of new interviews with showrunner Ronald D. Moore.

We now know that season one is expected to be 10 episodes long, although scripts are still being written so this could change slightly.

The series is, as expected, due to adapt the Norse saga of games, and game director Cory Barlog is actively involved in the TV show’s development, so we should expect a faithful adaptation.

As for filming, well, that’s not expected to kick off any earlier than 2026 so it’s probably going to be 2027 or 2028 when this one hits our screens.

Still, considering that so many game adaptations simply get lost in development hell, this is a thrilling update - and fans just can’t hide their excitement.

“This makes me happy,” wrote XApp_User, while UziObi_ added, “This is a winning idea if done well.”

“LETTTTTSSSSS GOOOOOO!!! One of my fave video games,” exclaimed 77imlab.

“I genuinely think Amazon is the only streaming service that can give this project the budget it needs. Hopefully optimistic,” said MovieMediaX.

Prime Video has garnered the trust of a lot of video game fans with its adaptation of Fallout, so hopefully God of War will follow in its footsteps.

As we’re all well aware though, it’s difficult to capture lightning in a bottle twice; The Last of Us recently discovered that.
