Why Stranger Things' Jamie Campbell Bower is Perfect For Elden Ring Movie

Manifesting this, the ultimate Upside Down x Lands Between crossover

Stranger Things has officially ended. There is no secret, ninth episode. Now that it’s over the cast should be moving onto bigger and brighter things, and we know what role one cast member should take on next.

Jamie Campbell Bower was a real highlight of Stranger Things’ fourth and fifth season, bringing the terrifying Vecna to life as he traumatised both The Party and viewers alike.

With an Elden Ring film officially in the works with A24 supporters think Bower deserves a spot on the cast as Messmer The Impaler, and so do we.

Messmer The Impaler was introduced in Elden Ring’s first and only expansion, Shadow of the Erdtree. Despite being the poster-boy of the DLC you find yourself at his front door pretty early on if you’re following the main story, and when I finished my review he was by far my favourite boss of the DLC.

As the son of Queen Marika, Messmer led a destructive, bloody assault on the Land of Shadow in her name, slaughtering thousands and taking over the lands. Marika then left the Land of Shadow leaving Messmer behind, as he patiently sat in his throne room waiting for his mother to return.

He’s a very compelling character and Jamie Campbell Bower would be a fantastic fit for him. Messmer has that calm, foreboding presence much like Vecna but is wickedly powerful when provoked.

With such fascinating lore, a menacing design and an all-around great boss fight, the Shadow of the Erdtree boss has it all and I’m praying he finds a place in the upcoming film.

Fortunately it sounds like my prayers have already been answered as director and writer of the Elden Ring film Alex Garland has played both the base game and Shadow of the Erdtree, so he’ll know all about Messmer and what an interesting character he is.

The Land of Shadow's story would also lend itself well to a film as it’s one we don’t have that much context for.

We know the basics like what the realm is and why Marika wanted to burn it to the ground but there’s probably still a lot left to explore.

Hopefully we hear more details on the film soon. It’d be nice to know which part of Elden Ring’s history it’ll make its backdrop as that’ll give us a better idea of which characters will appear and who could play them. I wonder who Jack Black will play…
