Margot Robbie is pushing for Harley Quinn/Poison Ivy romance in the movies

Margot Robbie is pushing for a Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy romance in the DCU movies.

Margot Robbie has revealed she has been “pushing” for a Harley Quinn/Poison Ivy romance in future movies. Known as ‘Harlivy’, the two are a popular pair in the DC universe but one that has yet to be made canon in the official movies.

With no news yet if Margot Robbie will be reprising her role as Harley Quinn after the success of DC’s 2020 Birds of Prey, she has made it clear that if she does, there is one thing she would like to see – a queer romance between Quinn and Poison Ivy. The actress shared her thoughts during an interview with ComicBook.

“I have been pushing for that for years,” she said. “I cannot tell you how hard I’ve been pushing for that. I want it too.” When asked who she envisioned in the role of Poison Ivy, Robbie replied, “Honestly… I always picture like Poison Ivy in the comics. I don’t really actually picture an actress doing it.” Poison Ivy was played by Uma Thurman in the 1997 Batman & Robin and is voiced by Lake Bell in the HBO animated series.

As for Harley Quinn, she will star in the upcoming Joker sequel, Joker: Folie à Deux, but this time she will be played by Lady Gaga who stars alongside Joaquin Phoenix. For Robbie, she is pleased to see the character continue on. “It makes me so happy because I said from the very beginning that all I want is for Harley Quinn to be one of those characters the way…like Macbeth or Batman always gets passed from great actor to great actor.”

Joker: Folie à Deux fans recently received a sneak peek of the upcoming movie in a new still posted by director, Todd Phillips. The sequel, which is rumoured to be a musical, will arrive in theatres in October 2024.

For now, we will have to hope that Robbie will get to live out her Harley Quinn/Poison Ivy dreams in the future of the DC series.
