It might be time for Cyberpunk 2077 fans to rejoice because a dream collaboration could be on the cards, and it might just blow us away.
Despite its woeful launch in 2020, CD Projekt RED’s Cyberpunk 2077 is one of the most popular sci-fi RPGs of the modern video game era.
The fortunes of Cyberpunk 2077 began to pick up steam following the launch of its long-awaited new-gen update, not to mention the launch of its expansion, Phantom Liberty.
“I really can’t say enough good things about Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty,” said GAMINGbible alumni, Ewan Moore. “It fills me with joy to be able to report that this is a deeply ambitious expansion that fires on all cylinders and never delivers anything less than a stellar experience.”

Cyberpunk 2077 has also seen great success outside of the video game realm, not only with countless merchandise but also board games, novels, and a fantastic Netflix series, which has recently had its second season greenlit.
The Netflix series in question is the anime, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, created by Rafal Jaki and Mike Pondsmith. Without giving anything away, even if you’re not a fan of anime, I couldn't recommend Cyberpunk: Edgerunners enough.
Not much is known about Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 at this time, but we do know that it will have 10 episodes, will be a standalone story, and will once again be produced by Studio Trigger.
Speaking of Studio Trigger, as brought to our attention by the Twitter account ‘DCU Updates’, Nick Dragotta, the illustrator of the comic book series Absolute Batman, wants the production company to create an Absolute Batman anime.

HOLY ANIME!
During an AMA thread on the forum, ‘League of Comic Geeks’, when a user asked Nick Dragotta and Scott Snyder (writer of Absolute Batman) if discussions had taken place with DC or James Gunn about adapting their comic series, Nick replied:
“I'm not in the know, but I know DC makes and licenses quality stuff, so I'm excited to see what comes. Personally, I'd love to see a Studio Trigger anime of Absolute Batman.”

Of course, it’s not much to go on, because at this stage, it’s a mere discussion between creators and fans, but if this collaboration ever comes to fruition, it has all the potential to become one of the best Batman animations of all time.
We’ll keep you posted if we hear of any further developments on this story. While no release date has been announced for Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2, it’s widely expected to arrive in late 2026 to early 2027.
