Gamers have always historically had a bit of a reputation for being insular, haven’t they? I mean, I’m not going to pretend that I’m not slightly introverted myself, but still. I’m sure most of us here can agree there’s a lot more to life than staying indoors and playing video games all day.
By that, I mean going out and playing video games, of course. What did you think I was going to say, do sports? Hah. But really, I don’t think there looks like any better option for a nerd’s night out than this incredible gaming bar. It’s called Pixel Bar, and you can check it out below.
From its plethora of retro and modern gaming booths, you can spend the night playing all sorts of things with friends, including Halo, FIFA, and Mario Kart (prepare to potentially leave with less friends than you went in with). Not only that, but all the cocktails are gaming themed, including The Creeper, an explosive Minecraft inspired beverage.

Can we also just take a moment to appreciate the whole aesthetic of this place? It’s fully decorated with incredible gaming merch and memorabilia, including the tables, which are full of Pokémon cards.
If you wanna go here yourself, you totally can - it has two locations in the UK, in Leeds and Manchester. And hey, if you feel like making some enemies in Mario Kart, there’s no better time to head down there than later this month.
In case you missed it, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is set to be getting an absolutely massive DLC expansion in the form of the Booster Course Pass. A whopping 48 tracks, remastered from previous games in the series, are going to be added to the game, doubling the amount which were originally available, and therefore doubling the amount of ways you can lose your friends, too.
The tracks will be releasing in six waves of eight courses, with the first, featuring the Golden Dash and Lucky Cat cups, racing its way (sorry) onto consoles on 18 March. These waves will be releasing all the way up to the end of 2023, so it certainly doesn’t look like we’ll be getting a full new game any time soon, but all that new content is certainly something to be excited about.
