As the next entry in the much-loved The Witcher series, we don’t yet know much about what it will entail.

However, we do know that Geralt of Rivia will be taking a backseat in The Witcher 4 which leaves the stage open for our next main character.

Ciri, maybe?

With no official update for a while, CD Projekt Red surprised fans yesterday when it released a blog post talking about the first half of 2024.

In it the studio revealed that The Witcher 4 has officially finished the end of its pre-production phase and will now be entering full production.

This is a “major milestone” for the studio and could mean that we see the next The Witcher instalment a lot sooner than we originally thought.

As well as an update on its current projects, CD Projekt Red also thanked fans for their support with the recent REDkit modding tools released for The Witcher 3.

“It’s been several months since our dev tools were released to gamers, and there’s already a slew of interesting modding projects out there,” the blog post read.

“We are happy to see the engagement of the gaming community, which is eager to share its ideas, bringing new strength to The Witcher 3 – a game set to celebrate its 10th anniversary next year.”

For now, players are still returning to The Witcher 3 years from its release and because of that, we now know of a horrifying secret in the game’s opening area and even a cameo from a much-loved TV character.
