We all know that CD Projekt Red is hard at work on a handful of different projects, one of which includes The Witcher 4.

Following on from the huge success of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt in 2015, CD Projekt Red is set to return with a fourth instalment in the much-loved RPG series.

Check out the next-gen trailer for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt below!

With the project still in its early development stages, we don’t know much about it but what we do know is exciting indeed.

Codenamed Project Polaris, The Witcher 4 will add “new gameplay elements and new mechanics” and will be the “beginning of a new saga” for the franchise.

Additionally, although Doug Cockle has confirmed that Geralt will be making a return in the next entry, we are doubtful that he will take on the lead role.

Could this mean that it is time for Ciri to step up?

Either way, it is still early days but according to a recent social media post by joint-CEO of CD Projekt Red, Michał Nowakowski, we could be receiving more news quite soon.

Replying to a post which aimed to celebrate the 17th anniversary of The Witcher, Nowakowski said the following:

“17 years ago The Witcher 1 rolled out with all of us holding big hopes for it.

I was there during the launch and I never dreamt where the company will be many years later.

Can’t wait to tell you more about what the future holds. When the time is right of course ;).”

Although Nowakowski doesn’t give away much, we can expect it to be an exciting few years for fans of The Witcher.

In the meantime, season four of Netflix’s The Witcher adaptation is set to air some time in 2025 so if you want more of the grizzly Geralt, you don’t have long to wait.
