The Witcher 3 players can now open and run their own distillery in Skellige

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is without a doubt one of the all-time greats. It’s so good that it garnered a new legion of fans who may have not even played the previous video games or have knowledge of Andrzej Sapkowski novels.

It doesn't matter whether you were a previous fan or not, the brooding charm that is Geralt of Rivia was enough to win over just about everyone as you embarked on epic adventures across the continent. Thankfully, much like me, if you have never played the original game in the series, then fear not because The Witcher is getting a full remake powered by Unreal Engine 5.

Check out The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt trailer below!

To be fair, it’s understandable if we’ve never played the original game. For starters, it was released back in 2007 and it was exclusive to PC, unlike the sequels. What’s more, from what I’ve seen, it hasn't aged all that well. So with the arrival of The Witcher remake as well as other projects from publisher CD Projekt, the timing could not be more perfect.

However, until the new games in The Witcher series arrive, we might be waiting a fair few years, especially with plans for the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel on the way. Thankfully, as if The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt wasn't already a massive game, a talented modder have been on the case to make this beloved fantasy RPG even better.

The mod in question is the ‘Alcohol Factory of Geralt’ and it lets you own a distillery in Skellige. Could there be a more perfect job for our Geralt, other than monster hunting? Better still, the mod is available for free now via Nexusmods.

“I restored the ruined distillery after the quest 'Practicum in Advanced Alchemy', to let Geralt run the distillery and brew all kinds of alcohols,” says the creator of the mod, FreakVIp.

“When I first played the quest 'Practicum in Advanced Alchemy' I thought the distillery was kind of fun but soon I realised it was only used once in the game and got abandoned, such a waste for an interesting machine with ingenious functionality. So I came up with this idea that maybe Geralt will come back later and run an alcohol factory, and unlike the original quest, you will be able to brew all kinds of alcohol rather than only a quest moonshine spirit.”

‘Alcohol Factory of Geralt’ does sound like it could be a lot of fun and is worth checking out. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is available now on PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch.
