'The Mandalorian' Season Four Officially Confirmed

'The Mandalorian' Season Four Officially Confirmed

Grogu is coming back for fourths

Blimey. The Mandalorian's third season isn't even out until next year, but we've already gotten confirmation that a fourth season is in development.

The Disney Plus Star Wars series was a huge success when it started back in 2019, thanks to its engaging video game-esque narrative of a wandering mercenary and his adorable sidekick. An especially killer second season at the end of 2020 helped to prove after the divisive sequel trilogy that there's plenty of life in the franchise yet.

With the third season expected to air in 2023, The Mandalorian producer Jon Favreau has now confirmed that season four is officially a go. It's set to launch in 2024

Speaking to Cinema Blend at the Star Wars Celebration over the weekend, Favreau spoke about how some of the upcoming spinoffs, including Ahsoka, have informed where The Mandalorian is going and what kind of stories it gets to tell.

"With television, we're very lucky that we don't have to rush things through into an hour and a half, two hours," he explained. "We get to tell stories slowly. So now, as Dave [Filoni] is doing Ahsoka, it's very much informing the writing that I'm doing for season four. It becomes, how should I put it, more precise."

While season four was widely assumed to be a given considering the huge popularity of The Mandalorian, this is the first official confirmation that there are more adventures on the horizon. Whether or not Din Djarin and Grogu remain together? Well, we'll just have to watch series three next year to find out.
