The Last Of Us Part 1 becomes Naughty Dog's worst-reviewed game ever

The Last Of Us Part 1 becomes Naughty Dog's worst-reviewed game ever

The PC port of The Last of Us Part I has quickly become Naughty Dog's worst-rated game on Metacritic.

There are few video game studios with a reputation as good as Naughty Dog’s. Seriously, these are the devs that basically made every PlayStation fan’s childhood.

Just think about the studio’s lineup of games for a second. Crash Bandicoot and Jak and Daxter preceded the Uncharted series, and then in the early 2010s, we were introduced to Joel and Ellie in The Last of Us. Banger after banger. That’s not counting the studio's debut game, Math Jam, which is definitely the best one of them all. However, the recent PC port of The Last of Us Part I really hasn't gone down well.

Take a look at the trailer for The Last of Us Part I’s PC release below.

Players who bought the Part I port on its release date were immediately greeted with visual glitches and bugs - Joel has always looked like a rugged fella, but some graphical issues which seemingly transformed his hair, eyebrows and beard into grey chunks took his look to the next level. That’s not to mention the crashes that some players reported. No amount of free DLC is enough to fix that.

With that in mind, it’s probably not much of a surprise that this version of Part I has become Naughty Dog’s worst-reviewed game of all time on Metacritic (thanks, TheGamer). At the time of writing, the port has a critic score of 61, which sits well below the studio’s previous lowest-scoring title, Jak X: Combat Racing (the 2005 title has a score of 76).

If that wasn’t bad enough, get a load of the user score - it’s currently 1.7. Massive yikes. Again, it’s not even close to the original worst title, which was the PC version of Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection (with a score of 4.7).

Thankfully, The Last of Us Part I has already received a number of updates on PC to help fix its various issues, so that rating should hopefully start coming back up again soon. Even so, the fact that such a hyped-up title was released in this state isn't a great look for Naughty Dog.
