The Last Of Us Part 1 PC port is being review bombed

The Last of Us Part 1's PC port is being review bombed, with players complaining of non-stop crashes.

You may think of The Last of Us as being somewhat of an invincible franchise. The original game is considered to be one of the greatest video games of all-time, while the new HBO TV series is considered to be among the best video game adaptations. Until recently, The Last of Us Part II was also the most awarded video game of all-time.

Critical success, commercial success - The Last of Us seemingly has it all. It’s no surprise that it’s full steam ahead on the franchise. The upcoming announced multiplayer title should get a full reveal later this year. Naughty Dog have also teased a surprise for the franchise’s 10th anniversary in June. Could it be a Part III? A new-gen Part II? Most immediately though, last year’s remade The Last of Us Part I was finally launched on PC yesterday. The HBO series has resulted in a major appetite for the game so you’d think this would be a joyous occasion but the port is not up to the standards we’re used to from Naughty Dog.

Take a look at The Last of Us Part I in action on PC below.

Unusually, The Last of Us Part I’s pc port released without prior reviews with media outlets seemingly not receiving code. As such, fans went in blind and they were in for a shock. The trailer for the port may look sparklingly perfect but players are taking to review-bombing the port, complaining that it’s in a dire state.

Over on Steam, one user wrote, “Crashes every 20 minutes. Game is badly optimised,” while another added, “Game crashes a lot. Unplayable.” Someone said, “I waited for almost 2.5 hours for the game to build shaders while crashing in the main menu every five or so minutes - one of the most frustrating experiences I’ve had with a game,” plus another added, “Seriously? The most beloved game and they don’t even port it properly?” Oh dear.

It’s not all bad. Many have admitted that yes, the shaders do take a while to load but they’ve otherwise had a smooth experience. That’s clearly not the experience for many players though. Thankfully, Naughty Dog are aware of the sheer onslaught of complaints.

Taking to Twitter, they wrote, “The Last of Us Part I PC players: we've heard your concerns, and our team is actively investigating multiple issues you've reported. We will continue to update you, but our team is prioritising updates and will address issues in upcoming patches.” Players are encouraged to submit tickets for any issues they encounter.
