The Last of Us’ latest episode ‘Day One’ crammed a lot into its 53-minute runtime.
While I’m still wondering just when we’re going to see Ellie’s rage truly take over, I was blown away by this episode which felt so faithful to the game; it really had it all.
Isaac’s introduction showed us exactly what the WLF is capable of, while Ellie and Dina’s TV station discovery proved that the Seraphites, or Scars, aren’t to be messed with either.

Of course, that subway sequence also reminded us of the ever present threat of the infected too, but amidst all of this, Ellie and Dina were able to take a few major steps forward in their relationship.
There is no The Last of Us without these fleeting moments of light that remind you why persevering through all of the darkness is worthwhile.
Isabela Merced and Bella Ramsey brought the iconic ‘Take on Me’ scene to life, before they later went all-in on their feelings for one another.
After realising that Ellie isn’t infected following her bite, the duo do the deed with Dina admitting that it took a while for her to admit her feelings for Ellie after her mother told her as a child, “No, you like boys.”

I have to say, I know some people were worried about Dina’s hesitancy in recent episodes, but I think their blossoming relationship has been so wonderfully handled.
I’ve seen so much love for this episode online but, I’m sorry to say, I also have to tell you that it’s being review-bombed by narrow-minded idiots.
There’s plenty more in store for Ellie and Dina in the weeks ahead.
Of course, there’s no law saying you have to enjoy The Last of Us’ second season; critiques are valid.

Some have taken issue with the series’ lack of mystery surrounding Abby, while some aren’t enjoying this less rage-fuelled take on Ellie.
It doesn’t feel as if those are the kind of critiques taking place here though; what’s happening certainly feels as if it’s coming from a place of vitriol.
At the time of writing, 16.1% of user reviewers on iMDB awarded the episode just one out of 10.
That’s the third most awarded score, with 24.1% awarding 10 and 17.2% awarding a score of eight.

“I'm immune. I'm pregnant. They're so turned on that they start having sex. Who wrote this garbage?” said a one-star review.
Another sad individual criticised the presence of “more and more gay scenes”, and I can’t tell you how disappointing it is to have to relay this to you.
Personally, I think Dina made it pretty clear that she didn’t see the point in holding back any longer after spending the whole night sitting awake thinking that she’d lost her entire future with Ellie.
I feel I should counter all of this with some light though.

“Literally all four episodes with a queer kiss have been review bombed like this and some people will still claim it's a coincidence or for ‘other reasons.’ These iMDB scores mean nothing other than highlighting how homophobic this world still is,” wrote Reddit user glamourbuss.
“Gay people exist and aren’t going anywhere, get used to it,” added GoRangers5.
Say it louder for the people in the back.
