It’s time for everyone to re-enter their Hunger Games phase. Our first trailer for The Hunger Games prequel movie, The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, is finally here, and it looks like everything that fans have been hoping for.

For those who enjoy a nice read, the story of The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes might already be familiar to you. The book released back in 2020, and is set 64 years before the first instalment of the main series. It follows a much younger Coriolanus Snow - AKA future evil president - as he mentors a District 12 tribute named Lucy Gray Baird for the 10th Hunger Games. Obviously, being set so far before the main trilogy, most of the characters are totally new, and those who haven’t read the book have finally got the chance to meet some of them in the new trailer.

Take a look at the trailer for The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes right here.

Thank you, CinemaCon 2023, for you have blessed us. Many fans had an inkling that the trailer could be dropping during this year’s event, given that we got the initial reveal of the movie during CinemaCon 2022.

Up until now, we’d only been shown a single still image of main stars Tom Blyth (Benediction) as Coriolanus Snow and Rachel Zegler (Shazam! Fury of the Gods) as Lucy Gray Baird, so it’s great to finally see them in action along with other members of the cast. The film also stars Peter Dinklage (Game of Thrones) as Casca Highbottom (the in-universe creator of the Hunger Games), and Hunter Schafer (Euphoria) as Tigris Snow (Coriolanus's older cousin).

The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes is currently set to release in cinemas on 17 November 2023, so get your calendar marked, and may the odds be ever in your favour.
