Twitch is not afraid to hand out bans and many of those bans are justified. In the past few months alone, one streamer made a bomb threat live on stream while another threatened to shoot up Twitch HQ.

However, there are other bans that just seem downright odd - and the latest to join that list might well be the most mundane reason of the bunch.

There have been plenty of memorable wins and fails on Twitch. Check out some of our favourites below.

Twitch streamer Abelina Sabrina Rios was recently banned from the platform for reading a novel live on stream. Seriously. Admittedly, it was a romance novel and when I say romance, we’re talking about the smutty kind but Rios said she was reading the book as a joke with her followers, as opposed to in a “sexual way.”

The book in question is Ruby Dixon’s Ice Planet Barbarians which is about an abducted woman who is … seduced by blue aliens?

The official synopsis reads, “You'd think being abducted by aliens would be the worst thing that could happen to me. And you'd be wrong. Because now the aliens are having ship trouble, and they've left their cargo of human women - including me - on an ice planet [...] A big blue horned alien introduces himself in a rather . . . startling way. Vektal says that I'm his mate, his chosen female - and that the reason his chest is purring is because of my presence. He'll help me and my people survive, but this poses a new problem. If Vektal helps us survive, I'm not sure he's going to want to let me go.”

Vektal sounds a little too possessive if you ask me. Anyway, after reading from the novel Rios was banned for “sexually suggestive conduct.”

Rios has since taken to Twitter to respond to the ban, “We genuinely don’t even read these books in a sexual way. Ice Planet Barbarians is written to be outrageous and silly - it’s all for comedy and laughs what the heck.” Maybe someone at Twitch will soon see the comedy in the debacle.
