'The House Of The Dead' Remake Finally Has A Release Date, And It's Soon

After almost a year of radio silence, it seems we'll be getting our light guns out again soon.

If you were a kid in the mid '90s you may have experienced the delight of having a couple of quid in your pocket before bowling or laser tag, to go have a jaunt on some of the arcade machines. In those days if you have a pound left over after buying your slush puppie, there was only one game it was going on. The super hard, on rails, light gun game with some of the world's best voice acting. Of course I'm talking about The House Of The Dead.

Announced April last year, the remake to the original The House Of The Dead has been coming for a while and without a lot of updates. Now out of the blue, the official Twitter account has announced that's it's indeed coming, and very soon. The House Of The Dead Remake is coming to Nintendo Switch on 7 April with preorders available from 31 March.

If you are interested and want to check out the official trailer you can see its majesty below.

From what we can tell from the trailer, the 'so bad its good' voice acting has made a comeback much like the stylistic choice made by the team remaking Shenmue. It also appears that the light gun style gameplay has returned, with red and blue themed reticules to match the joycon.

It's not even out yet but a second remake from the House Of The Dead series is already in the works. This was already remade once for the Wii, bundled in with the third game from the series to mediocre reception. This was due to a lack of additional content from the originals.

Here's hoping this latest remake, which is a first for the original game, will offer something a bit extra for those kids who spent the last of their pocket money at the arcades.
