Despite The Elder Scrolls franchise consisting of open-world RPGs, Bethesda’s latest dive into the genre has left some fans worried about the upcoming The Elder Scrolls VI.
There is no denying that the latest entry in The Elder Scrolls series, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, featured an open-world worth bragging about.
With countless towns and cities to explore, vast wilderness and even underground areas, exploring the land of Skyrim is one of the key features of the 2011 RPG.
However, when Bethesda tried to push the boundaries of open-world gaming with its 2023 action-RPG Starfield, it is safe to say that it left a lot to the imagination.

With critics complaining about a feeling of emptiness and too much ambition on Bethesda's part, Starfield was left with mixed reviews and still remains one of the studio’s least successful games to this day.
So it is perhaps no wonder that fans are worried what this will mean for The Elder Scrolls VI.
Although it does not yet have a release date, The Elder Scrolls VI is one of the most highly anticipated video games of all time thanks to the success of its previous entries.
That being said, fans are worried that its open-world may fall into the same trap as Starfield.

However, for one fan over on r/ElderScrolls, there should be nothing to worry about.
“Why are people worried about ES6 as if it’s not returning to traditional exploration and not planet by planet like Starfield?” They asked in a recent post.
“To me, this is already way better than dead planets with the same content. Give me a big map to explore just like Skyrim, just like Fallout 3, and let me have at it.”
However, fellow fans were quick to argue back.

“Because we know nothing about it,” one user commented.
“For all you know it could be island hopping instead of planets. You know nothing.”
Another agreed, adding, “[Bethesda] said way back in 2016 that they were working on three big projects, all of which were bigger than anything they'd ever done…
“If [TES VI] is going to be bigger than anything they've ever done, does that mean the map is going to be significantly larger than any other TES game?

How exactly are they going to manage that without it feeling empty OR overcrowded?”
These are all genuine concerns but not ones that we have the answers for yet as Bethesda continues to keep information surrounding The Elder Scrolls VI close to its chest.
