Since Bethesda has run out of platforms to port Skyrim to, it’s now announced a new release for last year’s The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered.
Launching on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S last year, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered was one of the biggest surprises of 2025, receiving heaps of praise as a result of its shadowdrop marketing campaign.
However, many players were quick to note that one platform had been left in the dust; Nintendo Switch 2.
While the Switch 2 had not been released at the time of Oblivion Remastered’s launch, many Elder Scrolls fans have been eagerly awaiting word from Bethesda regarding whether the game could come to Nintendo’s hybrid platform.

During today’s Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase, Bethesda announced that The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered would come to Nintendo Switch 2 sometime in 2026.
This version of the game comes with all DLC included, like the Shivering Isles and Knights of the Nine expansion packs.

It seems like a no brainer, considering how well Skyrim did on Nintendo Switch. These games have massive casual appeal, and feel extra special to play on handheld devices.
I'd also go so far as to say that Oblivion is a much better game than Skyrim, with a far more interesting world to explore and better side quests. I also really love how the game looks in the remaster, with a far more detailed environment and less terrifying character models.

It’s probably still going to be a long time before we can play The Elder Scrolls VI, but now having access to two excellent Elder Scrolls games on Nintendo Switch 2 should hopefully at least allow that time to pass by a lot faster.
There’s no release date announced for when The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered will drop on Nintendo Switch 2 besides a vague ‘2026’ window, but we should hear more later in the year.
It’s the 20th anniversary of the game in March, so I’d wager on some news coming around then.
In the meantime, Bethesda has also announced that Fallout 4: Anniversary Edition will be coming to Nintendo Switch 2 on 24 February, 2026, while Indiana Jones and the Great Circle lands on 12 May, 2026. Both releases come with all DLC packaged as well, giving you the complete experience.
