The Elder Scrolls 6 trailer roasted by frustrated fans

"I'll be so close to retirement in 2045, why bother?"

Those excited for The Elder Scrolls VI have been putting together a timeline of Bethesda’s updates and development announcements for the upcoming title… and man, all you can really do is laugh.

It’s everyone’s favourite time of the month, because it’s time to play our favourite game: “How long has it been since Bethesda released the teaser trailer for The Elder Scrolls VI?”

Well, considering it dropped on June 11 2018, it’s been just under six years and eleven months. In a month and a week’s time, it’ll be seven years since that teaser trailer first graced our screens… and we don’t really have much to show for it.

You can watch that trailer below.

That’s probably why the folks over on the r/TESVI subreddit have decided to mercilessly poke fun at Bethesda for their decision to release the teaser so early.

“Imagine how many people that were excited after the teaser in 2018 who are now dead,” commented user Better_North3957.

“I know for damn sure that if I get a terminal illness between now and release, I will make sure that whoever writes the eulogy takes a humorous jab at Bethesda and puts it on YouTube.”

“I used to joke that I'd be taking two full weeks off of work when ES6 released," replied user PsychologicalLeave48.

“Now? I'll be so close to retirement in 2045, why bother?”

Games take a long time to develop, especially in this day and age, so really, we shouldn’t be too shocked that The Elder Scrolls VI is taking this long (especially since the teaser trailer outright warned us that the game was only in “pre-production” at the time).

But, at the same time, I think we can all admit that maybe they should have held off on releasing the teaser so soon.

On the plus side, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered’s release shows us that Bethesda isn’t afraid of just dropping a huge game out of nowhere. So, maybe TES VI is a little closer to release than we think it is.

I reckon that once we see the next trailer for the game, its release date will be imminent. Don’t lose hope yet, folks.
