The Elder Scrolls fans are still waiting for more information on the next game in the series, and think this December might finally yield some answers.
Both GTA VI and The Elder Scrolls VI are two of the most highly anticipated games of all time, and are going to shatter records when they launch.
For GTA VI fans this day will come fairly soon, as Rockstar Games’ next open-world banger is set to launch in May 2026 as long as there are no surprise delays on the horizon.
For The Elder Scrolls fans things are a little different. The Elder Scrolls VI still doesn’t have a release date and we haven’t seen any gameplay, not even an in-game screenshot to tide us over.

Fans think this could change this December though, specifically 11 December. Why is this day important you might ask? Well it’ll mark 15 years since The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim was revealed to the world.
Skyrim was revealed at The Game Awards in 2010, and this year’s Game Awards just so happens to land on the same day, 11 December. It’s a bit of a tin-foil hat theory but if Bethesda is looking for the perfect day to show off its next Elder Scrolls game surely there’s no better place or time than The Game Awards 2025?
Nothing is set in stone of course but fans aren’t ruling it out. However they are tempering their expectations a bit, like one who said “everything's possible, but it's far more likely we'll get a reveal trailer at TGA 2026, not 2025.”
“I think it's very likely” said another fan. “It falls right in the window for past trailer releases, is on an auspicious day and event, and would put it just in time for a late 2026 release (when I believe they are targeting).”

While many aren’t anticipating an Elder Scrolls VI reveal they are anticipating another Skyrim re-release. It’s become a widespread joke that Bethesda likes to re-release its best game whenever an opportunity presents itself, and the 15th anniversary of its reveal seems like a likely time to drop another iteration of the RPG.
“They are going to announce and shadow drop The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim 15th Anniversary Edition” joked one fan.
So, mark your calendars for The Game Awards 2025, as it could finally be the day Elder Scrolls fans have been eagerly awaiting.
