The Elder Scrolls VI boss confirms the news that we all wanted to hear, well, kind of.
I know, The Elder Scrolls VI news that we all want to hear is that a gameplay trailer and release date will be dropping any day now. Sadly, that is not the news we bring today, but it’s good news nonetheless.
The fact that Bethesda announced its next entry in The Elder Scrolls in 2018 with nothing more than a cinematic flyover of Tamriel and a logo with nothing since, is a crime against humanity, or at least, a crime against gaming.
Still, we wait until Bethesda drops any relevant information regarding The Elder Scrolls VI, and we all hope that it will arrive before the next generation, but I wouldn't count on it.

However, there is a piece of information that will at least give patient fans a glimmer of hope, and it comes from Bethesda head honcho, Todd Howard.
As shared in Reddit by YungRei, during an interview with the YouTuber MrMattyPlays, Todd Howard suggested that The Elder Scrolls VI will be supported with new content and updates for a long time, once it’s released, that is.
"It's not just what it means for content; it goes further than that,” said Howard. “Now that we're working on The Elder Scrolls VI, and we get to see it here in the studio, we do miss it,” referring to the RPG having a stop-start development since its 2018 reveal.
Being an over-optimist, I’d like to say that hopefully, we might get to see more of The Elder Scrolls VI during Summer Game Fest and/or Gamescom in 2026. But it feels like we’ve all been saying that for years.

That being said, The Elder Scrolls VI has been in development for so long that it’s wandered deep into Half-Life 3 territory.
Much like Half-Life 3 (a game that we’ll probably never get), the hype for The Elder Scrolls VI has built so high over the years, it’s going to be practically impossible to meet fans' expectations.
The only comfort that we have is that we know The Elder Scrolls VI is coming at some point, because there’s no way Bethesda will leave all that money on the proverbial table.
It’s probably also safe to assume that The Elder Scrolls VI could very well be a next-gen title, and if it's not, we can consider that to be a bonus (assuming it releases this generation).

At least we still have the likes of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim to keep us busy, I guess.
