The Elder Scrolls VI fans discuss the prospect of the fantasy RPG being a timed exclusive, with some divided.
Despite remaining radio silent for years, there’s still little escaping talk of Bethesda’s highly anticipated next entry in The Elder Scrolls series.
It’s a testament to how popular the franchise is, because despite being revealed over seven years ago at E3 2018, and having nothing more than a cinematic flyover of Tamriel and a logo image in a trailer, there’s still tons of hype for The Elder Scrolls VI.
However, with Bethesda Softworks being owned by Microsoft, many have raised the question as to whether The Elder Scrolls VI will be a PC and Xbox exclusive, or at least, for a period of time.

Since Microsoft officially completed the $7.5 billion acquisition of Bethesda’s parent company, ZeniMax Media, in 2021, multiple titles have jumped over to PlayStation, recent examples being Indiana Jones and The Great Circle, as well as DOOM: The Dark Ages.
The sci-fi RPG Starfield, which launched for PC and Xbox Series X/S in September 2023, is yet to make its way over to PlayStation 5, but many feel that its announcement is only a matter of time.
“Thoughts on TESVI coming to PlayStation?” asked Redditor troopaloop311. They go on to say about it potentially being a timed-exclusive and how long PlayStation gamers might have to wait.

In my opinion, I’d be shocked if it doesn't come to PlayStation at some point. It feels recently that Microsoft is throwing in the towel when it comes to console exclusives, having seen so many over the last year or so jump ship to the blue brand.
“I think it will come, Xbox is all about multiplatform now, the only limitation is probably mods, just like Skyrim and Fallout 4, Sony has the worst mod support,” replied justmadeforthat.
“At this point, I think it will come out on day one on PS5. In fact, I’d put money on it. It’s a massive audience to lose out on with the day one hype sales, we’re talking hundreds of millions of dollars,” explained CogGear.
“I think it will be like Starfield - Xbox/PC exclusive for a while before it comes across (if it does),” said longesryeahboi. “It's one of the most anticipated titles of all time, so I can definitely see Microsoft making it at least exclusive for a year or so.”

“Bold of you to assume it will be released at all,” joked Daelebbah.
It might just be safe to assume that The Elder Scrolls VI will be a next-gen title, and we need not worry about what platforms it will or won't release on.
