2014's beloved Borderlands spinoff Tales From The Borderlands is finally getting a sequel, Gearbox has confirmed.
The developer announced during PAX East that the long-awaited follow-up to Telltale's interactive Borderlands adventure is currently in development, and that it'll arrive this year.
We don't have a trailer yet, unfortunately - but take a look at the original game in action below.
The original Tales From The Borderlands was a completely unique Borderlands experience that embraced the kind of narrative-focused gameplay you'd expect from other Telltale games like The Walking Dead or The Wolf Among Us.

It was a completely different beast to the loot-obsessed FPS action of the core Borderlands games, and fans adored it. Its influence would go on to be felt across the wider franchise, too, with characters from the Telltale game showing up in Borderlands 3.
Unfortunately, it looks like the resurrected Telltale won't be involved this time. Gearbox Entertainment Company CEO Randy Pitchford explained that this brand-new entry is being developed “in-house” by Gearbox.
The official Gearbox Twitter account later explained that the new game will focus on a fresh cast of characters, and is to be published by 2K Games (who publish the mainline Borderlands games).
It remains to be seen how true to the original Telltale game this new adventure will be, but we'd hope Gearbox knows enough to know what people loved about Tales From The Borderlands in the first place. Sometimes more of the same isn't such a bad thing, especially when you've been waiting for eight years.
