An upcoming open-world game that blends Zelda and Valheim is hitting Steam, and you might want to keep your eyes on it if you’re a fan of either of those.

Stormforge from Roboto Games combines the open-world freedom of recent The Legend of Zelda games with the crafting potential of games like Valheim and Minecraft.

It’s a multiplayer game set in the procedurally generated world of Sorana that’s filled with large magical storms. The overall aim is to collect resources, build up your base, and survive against these deadly storms and the dark forces pitted against you.

Stormforge features “a variety of melee, ranged, and magical weapons” that’ll help you fight these enemies, where you must also “tread carefully” around those who draw their strength from the storm.

These storms also carry crucial resources, which you can use to craft weapons, armour, and structures that’ll help you either fight enemies or survive in this harsh land.

Check out the trailer below if you'd like to see a bit more of the game in motion.

Stormforge supports co-operative gameplay up to eight players, though it can still be played solo as well if you prefer.

Roboto Games calls the co-op gameplay “great together” and features “unique and complementary powers that allow you to thrive as a team.”

In addition to this, Stormforge also has support for custom content. The game’s interface easily allows players to interact with a “wide variety of community created equipment, enemies, points of interest, and game rules. Choose to add mods into your existing game without any separate downloads.”

It sounds like players who enjoy sandbox games like Valheim and Minecraft should fit in well with Stormforge.

There’s no set release date yet, as Roboto Games is yet to announce when we’ll be able to play it.
