A new indie game is becoming an instant hit, and for good reason, the internet is becoming obsessed.

In 2022, the internet went into a frenzy following the release of an indie game called Stray, developed by BlueTwelve Studio, which probably helped put publisher Annapurna Interactive on the map.

Stray takes place in a dystopian future, where machines rule the planet (no, it’s not a Terminator movie), and you play as a tabby ginger cat trying to make its way in the world. Honestly, this game had garnered the attention of so many people that it was practically impossible to avoid the tons of cute cat videos on social media.

On top of all that, Stray is a fantastic game, and if you’ve never played it, it comes wholeheartedly recommended by the GAMINGbible team. It has an RRP of £24.99, but it’s often discounted in sales, too.

Is This New Indie Game the Next Stray?

That is a good question (I say to myself), but judging by its gameplay trailer and synopsis, it looks like Toto’s Journey has the potential to have a similar impact to what Stray had in 2022. In Toto’s Journey, you play as a Jack Russell. Need I say more?

“Toto’s Journey is an exploration adventure with light puzzle-solving elements. Play as Toto, a brave dog lost in a magical world after a mysterious cyclone. Explore enchanted lands, meet unusual creatures, and solve environmental puzzles as you search for a way back home,” reads the description of the game on Steam.

Developed and published by Hanuman Games, Toto’s Journey will have you innocently exploring the world, interacting with nature, and even solving a puzzle or two. Honestly, it looks like one of the most wholesome games we’ve seen in recent years.

While Toto’s Journey doesn't have a release date at the time of writing, its dedicated Steam page claims that it currently has over 100,000 wishlists. Sure, those wishlists aren't guaranteed to be purchases come release, but it’s certainly a promising start.

What Are Gamers Saying About Toto’s Journey?

The official Twitter account for Toto’s Journey has plenty of praise. Seriously, check out its Twitter account; it also has loads of cute videos of the real-life Toto. However, some do look AI-generated, but make of that what you will.

“I liked it, it's already on the list,” said PROSKPOOPK.

“Wishlisted and looking forward to seeing more of this,” declared DeTomPlays.

“Now I have to install Steam again on my computer, so I can play this game,” commented XimbinhaJinping.

It sounds like the game could prove to be an instant hit.

Is Toto’s Journey Coming to Consoles?

When the developers replied to a comment on Twitter, it was suggested that they might consider bringing Toto’s Journey to console, but nothing is set in stone. As for its PC launch on Steam, it has a tentative 2026 release window.
