The weekend is almost upon us and if you’re itching for something new to play that doesn’t break the bank, you might want to try out Food Drive: Race Against Hunger.

Developed by Gamers For Good, Food Drive: Race Against Hunger is a “fun driving adventure” that aims to improve “food bank awareness”, and I’m all for a game with a positive message.

Players will essentially collect food and make “timely deliveries” in an experience that many are comparing to cult classic Crazy Taxi.

There are three levels of driving to work your way through, although the description doesn’t exactly detail how the difficulty increases as you progress.

Food Drive: Race Against Hunger is played from an almost topdown perspective and features a fun cartoonish aesthetic.

The Free Game Is Available Now On Steam

“Help feed hungry families in need across various towns. Join Gamers for Good in spreading awareness of the critical need for food banks across the world,” the synopsis reads.

“Let yourself get caught up in this arcade race against time to keep everyone in town fed. As you speed around town in a dash to collect food crates and get them distributed to the hungry people you will enjoy beautiful art and catchy tunes.”

It continues, “You are given four minutes to collect and deliver as many food packages as you can. Try your best to top the leaderboard and be the hunger solution. Collect as many hearts as you can find around the map to unlock new track skins/charities.”

As I said, Food Drive: Race Against Hunger is completely free to play via PC storefront Steam.

Interestingly, it’s been out for quite a number of years, originally landing in 2018, but it’s now that the indie title is topping Steam’s free game trending chart.

Food Drive: Race Against Hunger boasts an impressive rating of 93% from players, placing it at ‘Very Positive’ on Steam’s review scale.

“If you like Crazy Taxi (and I love me some) then this game will tickle that itch that's been left unscratched for a long time,” wrote one happy player.

“The game is fun, quirky and engaging. It seems pretty polished for a game coming into early access. It has been a blast playing it so far,” added another.

“A fun and free game where you drive around town picking up boxes and delivering food to random places on the map. [...] Physics can sometimes seem wonky, but hey it's free and is meant to raise awareness about doing good to help feed the hungry,” remarked a player.

The playtimes vary on this one. Some reviewers have racked up over six hours whilst others have had their fill after 20 minutes.

Either way, it’s not a bad return considering Food Drive: Race Against Hunger is completely free.
