Starship Troopers: Extermination is heading to new-gen consoles, it’s been confirmed - and it’ll boast a brand new single-player story campaign starring one of the film’s original cast members.

Offworld’s Starship Troopers: Extermination first landed in early access on Steam in May of 2023.

In this first-person shooter, players assume the role of a trooper in one of three classes: Assault, Support, or Defence.

Your mission is simple. Defend yourself against waves of bugs and reach an extraction point.

I would say it’s very Helldivers II-esque but Starship Troopers was the IP to do it first.

There are a variety of bug types you’ll want to fend off - including Drone, Warrior, Gunner, Plasma Grenadier, and Tiger Elite varieties - and you can communicate with your teammates via a ping system.

Garnering ‘Very Positive’ reviews during early access, Starship Troopers: Extermination will soon follow up this successful test period with a full launch - a launch that’ll also see the title land on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.

Yes, before you ask, there’s crossplay.

Take a look at Starship Troopers: Extermination in action below.

Set to launch on 11 October, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S users will soon get to experience Starship Troopers: Extermination for themselves.

Created in Unreal Engine 5, the game is, of course, an ode to the stellar cult classic film released back in 1997.

There’s plenty to get excited about whether you’re a new console player, or a returning PC player.

When Starship Troopers: Extermination launches in full, it’ll do so with a brand new single-player campaign starring Casper Van Diem himself, consisting of 25 missions.

Van Diem portrayed Johnny Rico in the original live-action 1997 film and now he returns to the role, 27 years later.

This is great news for those of you who prefer single-player experiences yet want to enjoy the world brought to life in Starship Troopers: Extermination.

As I said, the game is the work of studio Offworld and it’ll be published under Knights Peak - the new premium publishing label of MY.GAMES.

With that 11 October launch date only a few months away, you can start the countdown clock.
