Halo is going to make its PlayStation 5 debut much sooner than expected, judging by this newly released trailer.

Rumours have been circulating for a while that Halo could arrive on PlayStation 5, whether it's Halo: The Master Chief Collection or perhaps even the more recent Halo Infinite.

If someone had told us a year or so ago that Halo would one day be released on PlayStation, we’d all think they were speaking gobbledygook.

However, we’ve seen first-party Microsoft games such as Grounded, Forza Horizon 5 and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, to name a few, all crossover to the Sony platform.

Furthermore, later this month, not only will Gears of War: Reloaded, a new remaster of the original 2006 game, come to PC and Xbox Series X/S, but also PlayStation 5.

So, with all that in mind, the prospect of Master Chief one day sharing a home with Kratos is looking ever more likely.

That being said, before the likes of Halo: The Master Chief Collection and Halo Infinite come to PlayStation 5, it looks like one of the most underrated games in the series is going to make a cameo first.

Developed by Arrowhead Games Studios, released in 2024, the multiplayer co-op shooter, heavily inspired by the cult-classic sci-fi movie, Starship Troopers, took the video game industry by storm with Helldivers II.

Helldivers II is a first–party PlayStation 5 game, but later this month, it will release on Xbox Series X/S and will have cross-platform multiplayer, which also includes PC.

To celebrate its upcoming arrival on PlayStation, a trailer was released yesterday, and just as the trailer came to an end, we see a Helldivers II pod drop in a location that looks a lot like New Mombasa, the location of 2009’s Halo 3: ODST.

Interestingly, other than being shared on Twitter, the trailer was also uploaded to the official PlayStation and Xbox YouTube channels, which suggests that the Halo 3: ODST-themed content will be available on all platforms.

There is no release date as to when the Halo 3: ODST content will drop, but with Helldivers II coming to Xbox Series X/S on 26 August 2025, that seems like the perfect time to bring Halo to PlayStation for the first time.

The aforementioned Gears of War: Reloaded also arrives on August 26, for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. It too will feature cross-platform multiplayer.
