I must admit, Starfield very likely hasn’t been on your radar lately - and I can’t really blame you for that if it’s the case.
Grand Theft Auto VI’s trailer has got us all in a chokehold, and 2025 has brought us a ton of stellar releases including the likes of Split Fiction, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, and Assassin’s Creed Shadows.
It’s hard to believe that Starfield launched all the way back in 2023; you could call it old news.

I have a sneaky feeling it’ll make a comeback very soon though.
A PlayStation 5 port basically already leaked online, plus Todd Howard did originally suggest two expansions would land at the very least and we’ve only received Shattered Space to date.
Perhaps then it’s time to hop back into the game; I doubt many of us have seen all there is to in its 1,000 planet open-galaxy.
There’s the incentive that Bethesda has just dropped a hefty update although it is one that remains in its beta stage.

That means that you can only access it if you’re playing Starfield via Steam, but the update should roll out to consoles soon.
Shattered Space garnered a mixed response but I had a pretty good time with it.
Update 1.15.214 is live on Steam now, as long as you’ve opted in to the Starfield Beta programme.

If you haven’t, navigate to Starfield and select ‘Properties’. From there, select ‘Betas’ and then ‘beta’ again. The beta app should then download.
As for what this update brings, well, “Very Low display settings” have been introduced to “improve performance on some devices”.
As for the Creation Kit, creators can now add new icons to the game, bundled creations are supported, plus creations can exceed a size of 2GB when being uploaded.
Elsewhere, the update mainly addresses bug fixes, ironing out persisting issues across the title’s gameplay, graphics, quests, locations, UI, and vehicles.

There are far too many fixes for me to outline here so I heartily recommend that you read the patch notes.
As I mentioned, this update should roll out to consoles eventually.
And perhaps we’ll hear more about what’s next for Starfield at this summer’s Xbox Showcase; it’s only around one-month away.
