Stardew Valley fans lose it over official new release

It's the announcement we've all been waiting for

This is the update we’ve all been waiting for.

Stardew Valley’s 1.6 update is finally set to land on console and mobile versions in just a few weeks.

Developer Eric ‘ConcernedApe’ Barone has finally revealed that the update will go live on 4 November.

You may recall that the sizable 1.6 update launched on PC platforms back in March.

Following the update, Stardew Valley hit an all-time player count high, despite the update not yet having been released on PlayStation, Xbox, Switch, or mobile.

Update 1.6 is so stonky that Barone says it’s best experienced via a totally new playthrough but don’t worry. That’s certainly not a requirement.

The upcoming Tales of the Shire could appeal to Stardew Valley fans.

As for what the update will bring, well, it’ll introduce a major new festival, two mini festivals, new craft recipes and items, a new type of farm, winter-themed villager outfits, new dialogue, the ability for cats and dogs to wear hats, a larger storage chest, extended late-game content, and eight-player co-op.

That’s really just scratching the surface.

The full console and mobile patch notes won’t be available until closer to the update’s November launch date but you can certainly read the PC patch notes in meantime to get an idea of what’s coming.

Other highlights include the added ability to drink mayonnaise, while “spouses now have a seven-day ‘honeymoon’ period after marriage which prevents them from laying in bed all day due to being upset.”

ConcernedApe’s continued dedication to this game is phenomenal.

If you want to know a bit more about that aforementioned farm type, it’s called Meadowlands Farm.

Its unique quirk is that it includes chewy blue grass, and if you opt for this farm, you’ll start with a coop of two chickens.

Ginger Island has received a new world map, a bookseller will now visit your town twice per season, there are four new home renovations … I could go on.

PC players will attest that Update 1.6 is well worth the wait.

Hang on in there my console and mobile-owning friends. The day is almost here.
