Stardew Valley Gamers Given Cruel Blow Over Stunning New RPG

Stardew Valley fans have just given a huge blow over a stunning new RPG, and the wait is killing us.

For many of us, Stardew Valley has become one of the best indie games to play in the last decade. Due to its cute aesthetics, colourful characters and overwhelming amount of content, it’s something we simply can’t put down. Nor will we try to.

But even so, there are plenty of upcoming games that will certainly appeal to massive Stardew fans who are longing for a new adventure.

Witchbrook, an upcoming RPG that looks like a blend of Stardew Valley and Hogwarts Legacy, was delayed earlier this week from its original Winter 2025 release window into next year.

Originally announced way back in 2016, it’s wild to think that we’ve been waiting for Witchbrook for almost a decade. Even though very little was shared about the game for years, there was clearly something about the game that resonated with fans.

But as we were all eagerly anticipating the release sometime this winter, Chucklefish has announced that the game is being pushed back to 2026.

“We have an important update to share about Witchbrook,” Chucklefish wrote in a new blog post yesterday. “Originally we had planned to launch Winter 2025, but despite great development progress this year, we’ve made the difficult decision to shift the release into next year.

Witchbrook is a big project – and it’s taking shape exactly as we hoped; full of charm, depth and detail! In our first blog, we shared our goal to create a living, breathing world for you to explore, and as we bring all those elements together, we’re taking the time needed to ensure the world feels rich, immersive, and alive.”

As for how the fans feel about this, some seem a little upset that the game is receiving a delay, especially after waiting for it for so long. Understandable, really.

“I recognize that they haven’t accepted any money for pre-orders or crowdfunding or anything like that and therefore the Devs technically don’t owe us anything tangible yet,” reads one comment on the Witchbrook Reddit page.

“But on the other hand: zero real info on gameplay/story, little to no progress updates on production, and now this shifting of a release date so (relatively) soon after we were given a Winter 2025 window after 10ish year of nothing is…..well, it’s definitely not got me feeling very charitable towards them, that’s for sure.”

“My expectations are in hell at this point,” wrote another fan.

“They’re so mismanaged it’s never going to be finished,” wrote a third fan. “They’re just going to keep updating the graphics to meet modern standards and forever delaying when they have an idea they want to add…”

We’ll wait for an update from Chucklefish to see what the new release window looks like. As it stands, Witchbrook is currently expected to release sometime in 2026.
