Stardew Valley has just got a brand new mod which introduces a new Freaky Friday-style body swap twist.
Similar to other Stardew Valley mods we’ve covered such as the No Money mod or the Timeless Pocket Watch, the new Stardew Doppelganger addon dramatically changes the entire function of the game.
The twist this time is rather simple. Each new day in Stardew Valley, you wake up in a random villager’s body. It could be Elliot, or Haley, or even Krobus.
Your task is to discover who you really are, with a secret NPC found somewhere in Pelican Town who recognises you. Find them, talk to them, and you’ll get the ability to return to normal.

However, if you don’t find them before sundown, you’ll start the next day in a brand new body and the secret NPC will change, so it could take you a while to break the curse.

Once you’ve managed to do that though, you’ll not only return to normal, but you’ll also earn a permanent reward for your character.
Okay, so it’s kind of like a mix of Freaky Friday and Every Day, the 2012 novel about a person who wakes up in a new body each morning.
It adds an interesting twist to the usual Stardew Valley formula. Since you probably won’t be able to find the secret NPC on your first few days, there’s a balance to be found between completing your goal while also engaging with the regular gameplay that Stardew Valley has to offer, like farming or crafting.
Mod author BritishW has also made it very easy to install. There aren’t any config files or settings you need to mess around with, you simply need to drop the folder into your mods and then load your farm for it to take effect.
You can download The Stardew Doppelganger now for Stardew Valley by grabbing it from Nexus Mods.
