Stardew Valley fans horrified to discover game-changing hidden setting after years

Amazing that it was hidden all along

It turns out, there’s a hidden setting in Stardew Valley that massively helps you with crafting, and many of us missed it the first time around.

Stardew Valley is now approaching nine years old, but it’s had a large number of updates in that time. The game feels a lot different now than it did nearly a decade ago.

But even so, there are plenty of features and settings in the game that many players won’t know about. Some can even make the experience feel a lot better by streamlining certain actions. I mean, I’ve played about 40 hours of it, and there are still loads of things I haven’t discovered yet.

Stardew Valley is almost a decade old.

Over on the Stardew Valley Reddit page, a user posted a PSA for those who are struggling to 100% cooking and crafting.

“Go to your settings, there’s an option that allows you to turn on advanced crafting,” the post reads. “This setting will allow you to see how much of an item you crafted and how many crafting materials for that item you have. It shows the exact same thing for cooking as well, both of which being helpful if you depend on workbenches and fridges.”

The setting essentially helps players to track what they’ve already crafted or cooked. For those who are trying to get 100% in all categories, or going for the complete Community Center restoration, this setting should come in handy.

If you’re playing on older versions of the game, such as the PlayStation Vita version, sadly this won’t be there. The feature only works on versions that received the 1.5 update.

“I’m on year eight, year seven on another save, and I just accidentally discovered this,” one comment wrote.

“I'm so glad I looked at the settings and clicked that when I first started. Because I would have had no idea,” wrote another comment.

“It is extremely useful,” a third comment wrote. “I activated it a few days ago while searching for another setting and it changed everything!”

Altogether, this should help with any players who want to streamline their game a little and track what they’re missing.
