Star Wars was hiding a hidden connection between Palpatine and Padme the entire time

This explains a lot of went down at the end of Revenge of the Sith

It seems there’s a little more to Padme and Palpatine’s relationship in the Star Wars universe, according to a very popular fan theory that explains a lot of what went down at the end of Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith.

The prequel trilogy gets made fun of a lot for its ridiculous writing online, and rightfully so.

I know the public opinion on the prequels has shifted to become far more positive as the years have gone by, mostly because the people who watched it as kids are now full grown adults with unfettered access to the internet, but let’s not kid ourselves: the story and the dialogue is god awful.

One such plot point that constantly gets ridiculed happens right at the end of Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith, which sees Padme die from… having a broken heart.

Look, dying from sadness, or rather losing the will to go on, is a real life phenomenon, but Padme was 27 years old at the time of her death. 20 year olds don’t just “aight, Imma head out” from broken hearts.

However, several fans have a completely different theory of how things played out, because they think that Palpatine was directly responsible for Padme’s death at the end of the film.

“Palpatine used the dark side to create those dreams of Padme dying so Anakin would turn to the dark side. I mean, why would he know so much if he wasn't behind it?” writes one user over on the r/StarWars subreddit.

“Then after losing the duel to Obi-Wan, Palpatine used the dark side again to drain Padme's life force to "heal" Anakin's injuries to put him in the suit. This would call back to the Darth Plagueis story…”

Y’know what, I prefer that. It shows that Palpatine truly was the master manipulator he touted himself to be the entire time.

Thing is… it’s just a theory. There really isn’t anything in the story that supports this, either, other than the fact that it neatly ties up some loose ends.

Unfortunately I think there’s a much simpler explanation for this whole ordeal: George Lucas kinda just sucks at writing.
