Some performances are so iconic and so perfect that the thought of recasting someone seems impossible.
Now the Star Wars franchise is no stranger to a recast, but most of these were done out of necessity. Ewan McGregor as Obi-Wan Kenobi, Alden Ehrenreich as Han Solo, and Genevieve O'Reilly as Mon Mothma are always the first that come to mind for me.
However, in the case of Count Dooku, recasting the role is a bit more tricky. Christopher Lee absolutely nailed the role in the prequel trilogy, to the point that recasting him would require someone incredible to pull it off.
Well, it turns out, someone already did take over the role of Count Dooku… and, by all accounts, they did a perfect job.

You might assume I'm referring to Corey Burton, who did a fantastic job playing Count Dooku in the Star Wars: The Clone Wars series back in 2008 (and has since reprised the role in several LEGO Star Wars video games).
But, no, I’m actually referring to Euan Morton, who played Count Dooku in the 2019 audiobook Dooku: Jedi Lost.
If you haven’t heard of it, I highly suggest checking it out, because Morton plays a younger Dooku perfectly. Also, the story is just super good, with many Star Wars fans hoping that it’ll be adapted at some point (either in live action, or as an animated series or film).
Some of you might be more familiar with Euan Morton's other Star Wars work though, as he played the role of the Male Sith Inquisitor (if you know, you know) in the 2018 game Star Wars: The Old Republic.

As far as live-action recasts go, however, Christopher Lee’s performance has yet to be replicated… and frankly, I’d be surprised if it ever is.
I honestly have no idea who could even come close to pulling off a live-action Count Dooku performance in this day and age, so perhaps it's best we don’t bother.
