Skyrim fans stunned by broken OP spell we had no idea existed

This quest reward is one worth seeking out

One day, I’ll be able to deliver you an update on The Elder Scrolls VI, but that day is not today.

The Bethesda title remains in deep development, but it is believed that it may finally surface in the next few years.

The studio recently teamed up with Make-A-Wish to create an auction, allowing bidders the chance to win the opportunity to design one of The Elder Scrolls VI’s NPCs.

A similar auction was held approximately two years ahead of the original planned release for Starfield, leading many to wonder if we might see The Elder Scrolls VI land in 2027.

In the meantime, I’m afraid that we’re left with just one option: replay Skyrim for the umpteenth time.

Well, perhaps that’s not entirely true. Both Kingdom Come Deliverance II and Avowed will scratch that The Elder Scrolls itch, but Skyrim has that tempting familiarity.

It also has the added benefit that it’s nigh impossible to see all there is to see in its open world.

Skyrim is so exquisitely detailed that while, as a collective, we’ve likely unearthed all of its secrets, we’ve perhaps not done so as individuals.

That’s why I wanted to share this little tidbit today about one of the game’s spells.

You can take a look at Avowed in action below.

In a Reddit thread about Skyrim’s best secrets, user FakestAccountHere shared the following: “There’s a quest where you get a flaming familiar as a reward. It’s the most broken spell I’ve ever seen in-game no matter what is added with mods.”

They continued, “It’s a wolf that charges at your enemies and blows itself up doing the [damage] of a fireball for the mana of a novice conjuration spell. Just hide and summon those. It’s fun.”

What to know where you can nab this overpowered spell? You’ll want to complete the quest ‘A Scroll for Anska’.

This quest can be found by speaking to Anska who is located in High Gate Ruins, and you’ll receive the ‘Conjure Flaming Familiar spell tome’ as a reward.

It’s well worth seeking out if you haven't before.

I’ll warn you though, one user had this to say: “Only downside is if it can’t get to them or they die before it reaches them. It will return to you and blow you up.”

I can’t say that’s happened to me but it’s worth bearing in mind.
