The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim isn’t an ugly game by any means, but compared to the game chock-full of mods it looks damn near unplayable.
If you’re playing on PC you’ve got an endless supply of mods to make your Bethesda games better, making games like Fallout: New Vegas and of course Skyrim that much better to play.
For Skyrim in particular you can do some wild things with your game, a good example being this overhauled version that might as well be an official remaster.

The video is a couple of years old but the list of mods used can still be put together today, and you could probably make an improved list given there are likely some better mods out there by this point.
It shows some before-and-after shots of the game as well as some of the cool gameplay additions the list adds to the game, like changing how some of the NPCs behave.
The results speak for themselves, it looks glorious and far better than the official remaster Bethesda released years ago, but again that’s the power of PCs.
Chances are Bethesda probably has another remaster in the works for current-gen hardware…

The Elder Scrolls VI clearly isn’t coming out anytime soon and the studio got a lot of credit for its remaster of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.
With that in mind it’d make sense for it to also release a remaster of The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind as well as Skyrim.
So if you’re thinking of replaying Skyrim anytime soon, consider checking out NexusMods and putting together a list of mods to update your game.
There are loads to choose from and the majority can be absolute game changers, whether you just want to spruce up the visuals or completely overhaul the gameplay experience.
