Skyrim players unearth hidden trick that makes dungeons way easier

Bring out your dead!

A Skyrim player has quite literally unearthed a hidden trick that makes the dungeons of Tamriel much easier.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim may have been released 14 years ago in 2011 on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 but to this very day, fans of the Bethesda series are still discovering something new.

For many, Skyrim represents the best of The Elder Scrolls series, and we can see why, because it’s still a fantastic game after all these years, which is why it’s been ported to every console generation so far. However, I’m always slightly more biased towards my beloved Oblivion.

Check out the Skyrim Anniversary Edition trailer below!

“You can open Draugr Sarcophagi rather than waiting for the in-game trigger. Had no idea,” exclaimed Redditor InigoMontoya1985.

Draugr are undead warriors often found in caves. In a nutshell, they can be a pain in the backside to kill and an annoyance when embarking on an important quest. Yet, using the trick mentioned by InigoMontoya1985, they can now be easy picking.

“I've been playing a long time and just randomly realised you can force open the Draugr coffins that have enemies in them rather than picking up the thing or triggering the event to cause them to pop open,” InigoMontoya1985 continued.

“I found this because I knew picking up a skull on a pressure plate was going to pop open a bunch of coffins. So I decided to put a fire rune in front of the one that I knew had the death overlord in it. I accidentally got the rune partially on the coffin, which caused it to immediately go off, and the Draugr popped out.”

They concluded: “I then went around to each coffin and popped them out one by one, then picked up the skull. No Draugr. If you are low-level and are going to face a bunch of Draugr, this is an easy way to cheese the encounter, or at least reduce the number to a manageable level.”

So, there you have it. If you’re on an important quest that leads you to a cave populated by deadly Draugr, hopefully, this trick will make life in Tamriel a lot easier.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is out now on PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch. It’s also included with Xbox Game Pass and PlayStation Plus Extra/Premium at no extra cost.
