Combining mythical legend with deep RPG mechanics and action isn’t exactly new in the world of video games, but it’s always enticing.
That’s why franchises like God of War have stood the test of time - it’s always enjoyable hearing those stories told over and over with new takes and deep characterisation.
This is why Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon is so tempting, as it retells Arthurian legends in a new and refreshing way, combining the tales we know with action and adventure in a vast open-world.

The game comes from Questline and is currently in early access over on Steam, though it’s due for release on Xbox and PlayStation, also.
Seeing it in motion, via the trailer, paints it like a Skyrim take on legends and myths, with all the sword-swinging and spell-slinging you’ve come to expect from a first-person RPG of this caliber.
Tainted Grail looks gorgeous and is bursting with colour, even in its darkest moments, bringing players into a wonderful through an “everlasting autumn.”
Recent reviews on Steam declare the game as “Overwhelmingly Positive” and those fans would know, as they’ve had two years with the game, so far.

The full release lands on 23 May 2025, bringing the adventure to more players than ever and competing with the recent Oblivion remaster, along with titles such as Avowed.
There’s always room for more RPG goodness, and it appears that Tainted Grail will win over players when it launches in a couple of days.
With a 70-hour campaign, the developers call this a “love letter to open-world FPP RPGs” featuring a branching storyline, hundreds of side-quests, and countless ways to upgrade your character.
Skill trees and weapons combine to ensure your playthrough is unique, and it seems you’ll want to experience it again and again to find new details and story beats.
