Skyrim Meets God of War in Epic New RPG, Kick Off 2026 in Style

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and God of War fans will want to check out this game for free next month.

Despite being two very different games, Bethesda’s most popular entry in its The Elder Scrolls series, namely, Skyrim and Santa Monica Studios’ God of War (from 2018) do have some similarities.

For example, they’re both inspired by Norse mythology, they both have you fighting mythical beasts such as dragons, and they’re both immensely popular. After that, my comparisons really are clutching at straws, so just humour me.

Either way, whether you’re after a fantasy RPG, you can’t go wrong with Skyrim, and if you’re after high-octane combat, you can’t go wrong with any God of War game since its inception on the PlayStation 2 in 2005.

That being said, if you’re on the lookout for a game that blends some of Skyrim and God of War, then look no further than Dragon Khan, developed and published by the indie team at Evolution Game Studio.

Dragon Khan Looks Promising!

“Dragon Khan is a third-person action RPG set in the exotic world of Ithannar, where players take on the role of Botu, a hybrid of dragon and human, as he must master ancient martial arts and harness the magic that flows through the land,” reads the synopsis of the game.

“Botu must explore vast wildernesses, uncover ancient ruins and temples, and face relentless enemies in fast-paced and strategic combat that combines physical prowess with magical abilities.”

At the time of writing, Dragon Khan does not have a release date. However, as announced in a newly released trailer, a playable demo is coming to Steam next month on 8 January 2026.

After watching the recent gameplay trailer for Dragon Khan, in terms of God of War, it gives me vibes for earlier games in the series of the original trilogy, with a subtle hint of Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver.

“I always wanted an action hack and slash where you can play as a draconic humanoid with wings and claws,” said thenewguyinred, in the comments section of the YouTube trailer.

“Soul Reaver vibes,” commented Kratoss80.

“Finally, a new game without a standard human protagonist. I miss the SNES to GameCube era, where you could play something different in every other game,” replied Cirescythe.

For console gamers who like the look of Dragon Khan, you’ll be pleased to know that it will also be released on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S at some point. Hopefully, considering that its playable demo is next month, a full launch isn't far away.
