'Skyrim': Girlfriend Surprises Boyfriend With Amazing IRL Quest To Find His Christmas Presents

Fus Ro d'awww

In what might just be one of the coolest and most thoughtful gifts I've seen so far this year, an awesome girlfriend surprised her boyfriend with an IRL Skyrim quest to find his Christmas presents.

The girlfriend (whose super NSFW Reddit name I can't share in this article but will obviously link to right here) picked up her partner a handful of Skyrim-themed presents for Christmas, including a shirt adorned with the game's logo and the excellent Skyrim Cookbook. She also got him an adoption certificate for her dog "who he's really close to", which doesn't have much to do with Skyrim... but is still super adorable and made me well up a little.

While any Skyrim fan would have been happy with that treasure trove of treats, our festive gamer decided to make things more interesting by throwing together a scavenger hunt inspired by Bethesda's open-world adventure.

Over on Reddit, she explains that she and her boyfriend play Skyrim together a lot, and would often talk about what they might do if they spawned into the game for real.

Enlisting the help of friends and roommates as NPCs, the boyfriend was sent off on a quest to follow waypoints, solve clues, and even pick a pocket or two. The girlfriend even made sure that their friends would react to her bf differently depending on whether or not he'd walked into a room crouched - just like in the game.

"I was hiding in the last room, and as he approached I played the Dragonborn song so he would know where I was," she wrote. There's a series of photos documenting the entire adventure, which you can check out here.

I honestly can't commend this person enough for their incredible ingenuity and thoughtfulness. All I know is that now I need to rethink a few of my Christmas presents, because none of them compare to this.
