Before we get into this, let’s all take a moment to breathe. Stay calm. Keep the hype contained. Ah, who am I kidding - you’ve read the headline, it’s already too late.
That’s right, folks - two years on from finding out that it exists (and basically nothing more), it sounds like we could be seeing Skate 4 (or simply skate, as it seems to be called) in all its glory as soon as next month. I think we can all agree that it’s about time.
Take a look at last year's hilarious Skate 4 teaser trailer below.
This news comes courtesy of prominent industry insider Tom Henderson (via Try Hard Guides), which, yes, does mean that none of this is officially confirmed yet, but he does tend to have a very good track record when it comes to gaming leaks. Just, keep that in mind, okay? Okay. Anyway, his sources are apparently suggesting that the game will be revealed in July, and that it’s “much further along in development than people may have thought”. Back in March, he claimed that playtesting for skate had been underway “for months”, so if what he’s saying is true, it does all line up.

Later in April, the internet went wild when what looked like prototype footage for the game appeared online, and although it looked undeniably rough around the edges (as you’d expect for a prototype, obviously), the gameplay was incredibly smooth. In his latest report, Henderson suggested that the footage may have already been months old by the time it surfaced, so we don’t have to worry about the final product looking similarly unfinished. Hopefully.
On a more official level, EA’s CEO, Andrew Wilson, confirmed in an earnings call back in February that the game “will be launching soon”, so all signs really do seem to be pointing towards an imminent reveal. It’d hopefully help soften the blow we got earlier this week, when it was revealed by Tony Hawk himself that plans to remake Pro Skater 3 + 4 were abandoned. I’m sure many of us are going to struggle to get over that one for some time.
