Pokémon fans stunned by surprise new release coming next month

Oh! Shiny!

I can’t quite believe it has been almost two years since Pokémon Scarlet and Violet were released. What is time?

To celebrate this, Game Freak and Nintendo are bringing a shiny Rayquaza to the Nintendo Switch title and it can be captured in 5-Star Tera Battles next month.

If you like Pokémon, you're going to love Temtem Swarm which is in early access on PC.

The new black-coloured Rayquaza will be available to battle and capture from 20 December 2024 through to 5 January 2025.

It looks pretty sick, not gonna lie. The new colour design is like a mash-up of Rayquaza and Umbreon, with a black body featuring golden lines and shapes.

If you’re a fan of this Pokémon, you're going to want to play during the available time and bag one for yourself.

This comes after three sets of Tera Raid Battle Events in the game, the first of which kicks off on 29 November 2024 and will feature Corviknight and Bellibolt until 5 December.

This then leads into Azumarill and Clodsire until 12 December, followed by Annihilape and Kingambit until 19 December.

Then Rayquaza will debut in its shiny form.

All of these events will pop up across the game world, so it shouldn’t take you long to track them down and capture some new Pokémon for your collection.

You’re sure to spot some mass outbreaks across all regions and will manage to find an increased number of Tinkatink, Wooper, and Girafig.

This is a huge celebration of the game and one that’s sure to bring back lapsed players or those who swing by for random events.

I’ve been meaning to venture back to Pokémon Scarlet for many months and this is exactly what I want to experience when I start my adventure from scratch.

Here’s hoping for more events like this over the coming months, I want to collect as many Pokémon as I can this time around.
