The gaming industry is full of super-talented developers who have felt the cold hardship of mass layoffs.

Just recently, Xbox announced it was culling many of its studios to put stock back into its major franchises, with a repored 4,000 jobs at risk over the year, and an initial 1,600 roles being made redundant - that's the second major cutback from Microsoft's gaming division in two years, leaving games to be cancelled in the wake of the purge.

In the last two years alone, giants like Sony (and Bungie), Take-Two Interactive, Ubisoft, and EA have all cut down on their staff size, leaving many devoted devs without work.

According to the Game Industry Hardship Fund, around 33 percent of developers have been impacted by layoffs in the last two years, with the post-pandemic gaming boom reeling back to normality and an increased reliance on AI.

But in a bid to support these out-of-work people, a new initiative from the Game Industry Hardship Fund has been created, raising $100,000 through an awesome indie game bundle with just shy of 150 titles to choose from.

$10 Game industry hardship fund bundle includes some awesome surprises

For as much as your coffee and croissant round on a daily commute, a new bundle on itch.io offers nearly 150 indie games that would usually cost $5-10 themselves on Steam or Windows.

With endless hours of gameplay to crawl through, some highlights include the likes of Winter Witch, a cozy fantasy exploration title with a cute cat for company; A Short Hike, a quippy adventure title putting you in the shoes of a flying penguin, scoring Steam's coveted 'overwhelmingly positive' rating; and Psychroma, a psychological horror side-scroller set in a haunted cyberpunk house.
