'Red Dead Redemption' Remake Will Follow The GTA Trilogy, Says Insider

Red Dead Redemption is the next game on Rockstar Games’ agenda that will be getting a lick of paint, as an insider claims that this remaster will arrive after the Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition.

The newest versions of Grand Theft Auto III, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, and Grand Theft Auto: Vice City got "across-the-board enhancements including brilliant new lighting and environmental upgrades, with high-resolution textures, increased draw distances” to ensure they look like how you remember them, not how they actually looked. 

Sure, the aesthetics have been compared to The Sims and Second Life, yet personally speaking, I think the team did well to maintain that atmosphere of the originals without hollowing it out for the sake of realistic visuals.

So, Rockstar Mag’s Chris Liberty says that the remake of Red Dead Redemption will be along these lines, though it isn’t on its way any time soon. Rockstar Games will clear the way for the remake following the launch and support of Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition, though the state of the studio sounds like it’s not a stable place to work. 

Liberty continues to claim that Grand Theft Auto VI (yes, it exists) “is the most chaotic project of Rockstar since its creation” and the team has sadly had to start over twice on the game. Given that Rockstar Games has been reticent when it comes to the future of the series and has taken steps to stop its community from asking about it all of the time, there might be something in this turbulent snapshot. 

Of course, I’m sure you’re aware that speculation like this should be taken with a pinch of salt, even when we consider Rockstar Mag’s reliable track record. Fans would be over the moon with a remake of Red Dead Redemption, as it’s been more than a decade since the original release and it has a special spot in lots of gamers’ hearts. 

It would also introduce the series to fresh faces, and as Red Dead Redemption is an approachable 20 hour game compared to its successor, this might encourage new players to Red Dead Redemption 2. We’ll keep you in the loop once we know more.
