Rock Band needs to make a comeback in 2023

Rock Band fans want to see the franchise make a major comeback.

There’s a definite craving for nostalgia in the air in the games industry as of late. If you take a look at the year’s most popular titles, you’ll find a surprising number of remakes, remasters, and reboots.

We’ve had Metroid Prime Remastered, Dead Space, Resident Evil 4 … I could go on. The release of Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 is around the corner and beyond that, we’ve got remakes of Silent Hill 2, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, and Alone in the Dark. Personally, I am counting down the days until we get more news on Professor Layton and the New World of Steam which is set to reboot the series. Today though, fans have gathered over on Reddit to discuss the need for a Rock Band reboot. Now that is a series in desperate need of a major comeback.

Take a look at the reveal trailer for Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater below.

Reddit user BamBam06 kicked off the conversation, writing, “I want Rock Band back,” garnering over 1.5K upvotes. They continued, “What happened to it? It was 1000% better than Guitar Hero. I was a beast on the bass, drums, and guitar. I can't sing worth a s**t, but... I still have my 360 and all the songs I downloaded and I got two guitars, the drums, mic, a bass, and keyboard! I want to play again! Bring that s**t back.”

Nikiaf replied, “More broadly, I miss multiplayer games that had everyone playing on the same screen. Online multiplayer is fun and all, but I’ll always fondly remember four player split screen,” while TerrorFuel added, “We used to have Rock Band parties. You had to dress like a rocker, came in on the red carpet, ‘paparazzi’ took your pictures. Rotated instruments on a small stage. Good times.”

Before you say Rock Band 4 is still around and is still releasing new songs via DLC packs, that is true. It is now pretty difficult to get your hands on the game’s instruments though so it’s certainly not a franchise that’s as accessible as it could be. Hopefully, that could change.
