Redfall's appalling player numbers have fans declaring the game dead days after launch

Redfall players are already calling it a 'dead game' after player numbers tumble two days after release.

Oh, Redfall. Where do I begin? It’s no secret that Redfall has had what you might call an abysmal launch. The title released on Tuesday and in less than a week, fans are already calling it a dead game as a result of rapidly falling player numbers.

Xbox was due to make its big comeback in 2023. If you tuned into last year’s The Game Awards, you’ll have noticed Xbox’s absence amongst the nominees. It was a year that lacked major first-party exclusives, something that the brand promised to rectify in 2023. The year started off with a small win in the form of Hi-Fi Rush, but Redfall is seemingly dead on arrival - which is ironic considering it’s a game about vampires.

Take a look at Redfall in action below.

As reported by Dexerto, Redfall players are concerned about the title’s rapidly falling momentum. If you take a look at the PC version of the game on SteamDB, it has an all-time peak of just 6,124 with the latest 24-hour peak sitting at 2,522. Considering Redfall is a AAA release, that’s shockingly low.

Hi-Fi Rush slightly beats Redfall’s all-time peak, with 6,132, and that wasn’t a AAA title - plus it surprise dropped with no marketing. If you look at a AAA behemoth like Hogwarts Legacy, that title has an all-time peak of 879,308. Reddit user serulean_cadence wrote, “I literally have never seen a big AAA game die so quickly. This is worse than Forspoken records, and I think Redfall might objectively be the worst game to come out this year so far.”

TheNaseband added, “You could say it was never alive in the first place.” Even though it’s made by a different studio, Xbox players are now concerned about the state of Starfield. Bethesda’s upcoming release really needs to knock it out of the park, otherwise Xbox risks damaging its reputation.
