Red Dead Redemption Gamers Torn Over Jack Marston's Real Father

Who’s ya daddy?

Red Dead Redemption fans are torn over the real father of Jack Marston.

With its compelling story, immersive world that encourages you to explore its every corner and fun gunslinging gameplay, there are lots of reasons why fans love Rockstar Games’ Red Dead Redemption.

At the forefront of Red Dead Redemption is the complicated but lovable protagonist, John Marston. In the 2010 game, John is trying to escape his criminal ways, when he was part of the infamous Dutch van der Linde gang.

John Marston just wants a good life for his wife, Abigail and his young son Jack. However, John’s intentions never go according to plan, and his escape from criminal ways proves to be a far more difficult process than he had feared.

In the 2018 prequel, Red Dead Redemption 2, we not only learn more about John and his family, but also the events that led him to desperately wanting to leave the Dutch van der Linde gang.

With Red Dead Redemption 2 being a sequel, Jack Marston is a little younger, and there are a few moments between its protagonist, Arthur Morgan and Jack, that have raised some questions about who his real father is.

“Is Jack really John's son?” asked Redditor Jazzlike-Release-918. “I read that she [Abigail] used to be a prostitute.”

“After the gang rescues her, she gets involved with most of the gang members sexually. Then she falls in love with John, gives birth to their son, and they get married.”

As expected, fellow Red Dead Redemption fans on the thread were keen to provide the important answers.

“The answer is simple, it's John. John is Jack's Father," replied natalaMaer. “Even if somehow John isn't Jack's father, John is the one who raised him, sacrificed his life for him, and Jack calls him father. That is what a father should do, and it's more than enough to show he really is Jack's father.”

“You took this from wiki, but ignored the part that says ‘she began a romantic relationship with John, and she later birthed their children,’” added Comfortable-Can4776.

“Jack looks completely different from Bill, Dutch, and Javier in RDR but goes on a similar structure to John and Abigail,” replied another Reddit user.

The chances are that Jack is John’s son, and I think most of us probably feel that. That being said, it’s always fun to speculate.

The original Red Dead Redemption is out now on PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch, while its sequel is available on all of those platforms, apart from Nintendo’s hybrid machine.
