Undead Nightmare was perhaps on of the most successful DLC packs Rockstar Games ever released. It changed so much of the original Red Dead Redemption and gave it a new lease of life. The follow up, a fan created mod, is doing just the same and has us wondering, why did Rockstar Games not do this themselves?

Undead Nightmare II - Origins is a mod designed to bring the zombies mode to Red Dead Redemption 2 and sets fans up to Dig your heels in, stand your ground, and fight to survive this undead nightmare as ravenous beasts reveal themselves from the dark mist."

Red Dead Redemption 2 hasn't seen as many updates as the original game

The blurb from the mod certainly builds the same excitement the original DLC did - "A plague has struck New Austin, causing the dead to rise from their graves and wreak havoc among the already savaged lands." The mod brings a lot of changes to the game introducing several new mechanics, too.

Undead towns will now appear across the map, most of which will be burning to prevent zombies from taking over; and some settlements have been overrun by the undead, forcing the wild animals to seek new lands. Undead Nightmares II not only overhauls the look of the game, but features a custom soundtrack to perfectly match this horror landscape.

From the many notes on the Nexus Mods page, it seems fans are enjoying the new challenges the mod brings to the game. There's a lot to see here including blood moons, new survivor hideouts and even some 'undead apparel' for those who want to look the part.

Though this is a relatively older mod, it still seems to be getting updates, so if you're looking for a new way to extend your time in the Wild West, zombie killing might be the path for you.
