Almost five years after its release, players of Red Dead Redemption 2 are still finding new ways to play Rockstar’s western adventure game.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is very much a “make your own kind of fun” experience, allowing the player complete freedom in how they want to explore the world and treat its inhabitants. From petty crimes, poaching, and taking in the gorgeous scenery, it's no wonder the game is still so highly-rated after all this time.

Take a look at some of our favourite Red Dead Redemption 2 wins and fails.

One player in particular managed to find a unique way to deal with hostile AI - in this case, a very angry shopkeeper - by having other AI characters do their dirty work for them. Egolo69 shared a post on the Red Dead Redemption subreddit, showing them casually buying some weapons from a gun store - all perfectly normal, nothing out of the ordinary. They then point a gun at the shopkeeper, making them aggressive and run outside, standing near the town’s sheriff, who quickly reacts to the shopkeeper’s gunfire and rushes in to take him out, meaning the player didn’t have to lift a finger.

Rockstar have always been known for putting those kinds of extra details into their games, and its worth noting that because the shopkeeper died in the shootout, the store in question will be closed until a certain amount of in-game time passes. It’s that level of detail that makes Red Dead Redemption 2 such an incredible game to play, and why it’s so infinitely replayable.

Many were quick to comment on Egolo69’s AI mind games, with one user stating, "Bro gaslit him into fighting the sheriff.” Another celebrated the sheriff’s quick reaction speed, proclaiming: “Sheriff Malloy, a hero Valentine deserves!”

With Rockstar’s next major title, Grand Theft Auto VI, seemingly a long way off, it’s nice to see players are still finding new and creative ways to enjoy everything Red Dead Redemption 2 has to offer.
